Head / Draw | Pump head is a measurement of pump pressure usually written in metres / head and is the maximum height vertically in metres the pump is able to push the water or fluid against gravity. |
Horse Power | Horse power ( hp )is a measure of power used by a pumps motor or engine to show the rate at which the pump will get its work done. One horsepower = 745.7 watts. |
Impeller | An impeller or impellor is a rotor used to increase the pressure and flow of a fluid. |
Jet Pumps | Jet pressure pumps are mounted above ground and are a non-submersible pressure pump. |
Mechanical Seals | Mechanical seals are intended to prevent the fluid ( water or oil ) used by a machine or pump from leaking to the external environment ( the atmosphere or a body of water ). |
Multistage Pump | Multistage pumps are pumps in which the fluid or water flows through two or more impellers which are fitted in a series within the pump. |
Non-return Valve | A non-return valve is used in a water pump application when the water source is a closed tank and situated lower or equal to the height of the pump. |
Performance Curve | A performance curve is a diagram which relates to the performance of a pump. |
Pressure | Pressure is the ratio of a force over a given area, which the force is applied to. When dealing with water pumps it is usually measured in psi or kPa. |
Pressure Tank | A pressure tank is a vessel with an internal bladder which holds water under pressure. |
Radial Flow Pump | A radial flow pump is a centrifugal pump which is designed with the pump having higher discharge pressures with lower flow rates. |
Rain to Mains | A rain to mains water pump system allows you to choose between using rainwater or mains water supply. |
Rigid Pump Shaft | A rigid pump shaft is one that operates below its critical speed. |
Rotating Seal | When dealing with pump mechanical seals, if the moveable portion of a seal rotates with the shaft, then the seal is said to be a rotating seal. |
Seals | A diaphragm seal is a flexible membrane that seals and isolates an enclosure. The flexible nature of this seal allows pressure effects to cross the barrier but not the material being contained. |
