Term Main definition
Sewage Pump

A sewage pump is a submersible pump used to transfer both raw sewage liquids and solids from one point to another.

Submersible Pump

A submersible pump is a pump that can be fully immersed under water. A submersible pump pushes water to the surface using pressure and never needs to be primed as it is already submerged in fluid. Submersible pumps are quiet as they are under water and some submersible pumps can handle differing sized solids. The water around the submersible pump helps to keep the motor cool.

Total head

Total head of a pump is calculated as the vertical height between the level of liquid at its source to the highest point the liquid will be pumped - the discharge point of the pump.

Viscosity

Viscosity in a pump is the resistance to gradual deformation of a fluid by shear or tensile stress.

Voltage

Pump electrical voltage is specified in volts. Voltage is the cause of the electric current and comes in different strengths which is indicated on your pump as a volt value.
