A submersible pump is a pump that can be fully immersed under water. A submersible pump pushes water to the surface using pressure and never needs to be primed as it is already submerged in fluid. The main maintenance issue on most pumps is the seals and with submersible pumps if the seal is damaged the water can get into the motor and render it useless until it is repaired.
